Students To Receive Lectures Via Video

The Director of Computer Science and Information Technology (COMSIT) Directorate of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Isaac A. Adimula, has said the university would enter a new phase of its ICT revolution at the completion of the installation of the fibre optics infrastructure on the campus before the end of the year.



Prof. Adimula made this disclosure recently, adding that the development would redefine the experience of studentship in the university.

The don said that with the fibre optics in place as the backbone of the university’s ICT infrastructure, there will be tremendous improvement in the wireless structure, pointing out that “there will be speed in connectivity, the problem of failure will be minimised and it will be easy to deploy video facilities in classrooms, lecture theatres and even in the auditorium. If a lecturer is outside the country, you can actually teach your students from wherever you are.”

Prof. Adimula said further that with fibre optics, only the capacity of personal computers would limit the speed and performance of internet. He noted that within few years, the university has moved from being nowhere in the assembly of world universities to a position of reckoning in world ranking.

According to the director, “the achievements of the university are sustainable because the vice-chancellor had put solid structures on ground and the development had not been about personalities but rather about institutions.
