Kim makes case for IT-driven classroom

The Managing Director, Samsung Electronics West Africa, Mr. Bravo Kim, has urged stakeholders in the nation’s school system to invest more in the deployment of information technology device to drive teaching and learning in the country.

Kim, who spoke during the inauguration of a new learning device, ‘Smart School’, at the Greensprings School, Lagos, said that Nigeria should embrace IT-driven learning solution to enhance the global marketability of its citizens.

The Smart School solution is a fully integrated learning platform that empowers teachers to deliver an interactive learning environment to pupils.

Kim said that the device was designed to improve the learning experience of pupils through the innovative medium of “Samsung Smart Classrooms.”

According to him, the solution utilises Samsung e-boards and devices such as tablets, PCs and other new age technological tools to facilitate learning.

Kim, who commended Greensprings School for its foresight to embrace the solution, described the initiative as an important part of his organisation’s drive to aid schools’ transition towards a purposeful smart learning environment in Nigeria and indeed the entire continent.

“The deployment of Samsung’s Smart School solution in Greensprings School represents an important part of our continued effort to deliver the classroom of the future today. This innovative solution frees educators from the confines of standing at a chalkboard or projector and allows them to move about the classroom, conducting interactive lessons and activities through their touch screen tablet or notebook computer,” he said.

Also, the Director, Greensprings School, Mrs. Olayiwola Koiki, said that the device provided a good opportunity to nurture pupils’ growth through interactive technology.

“The pupils of today are digital natives, and to some extent, inhabit a world different from their parents,’ who are digital immigrants. The conventional styles of learning no longer match their everyday experiences,” she said
