The University of Lagos has appointed Dr. Folashade Ipaye as the Registrar and Secretary to the Governing Council of the institution.
The appointment takes effect from August 1, 2013 for a five year term.
Also, Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State has confirmed the appointment of Prof. Saburi Adesanya as the substantive Vice-Chancellor of the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye.
Ipaye’s appointment, a statement by UNILAG stated, followed the ratification of the report of the Selection Board by the Governing Council at a meeting July 18.
Born on September 25, 1964 in Lagos, Ipaye (nee Davies) is an indigene of Lagos Island East, Lagos State.
The old student of Our Lady of Apostles Secondary Grammar School, Oyo State (1981) holds a Bachelor of Education/History from the University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife-Ife, as well as a Master’s and PhD degrees in Educational Administration from UNILAG in 1987 and 2008, respectively.
She joined UNILAG as Administrative Officer I in December, 1989.
A statement by the OOU spokesperson, Mr. Biodun Oduwole, indicated that the appointment of Adesanya, a professor of Pharmacognosy, takes immediate effect.
Before his appointment, Adesanya had been the acting VC of OOU since July 27, 2012.
Quoting a release by the Secretary to the Ogun State Government, Mr. Taiwo Adeoluwa, Oduwole stated that the VC was an erudite scholar with a teaching experience spanning almost three decades in the nation’s university system.
